Aarohan, the annual Amrita science fest is an initiative of Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru, to foster a bond between an institution of higher education and schools. Amrita has successfully hosted Aarohan for ten consecutive years and the eleventh edition is scheduled on 24th and 25th October, 2019.
Aarohan'19 features 8 events in junior category and 6 events in senior category. Each event has been planned in such a way that the students enjoy it thoroughly as they learn something new from it.
The winners are awarded certificates and cash prizes worth 4 lakhs and the school with highest number of event victories will be crowned the overall champions. With 14 events on the board, there is a lot to be won.
The students will be divided into two categories based on their age group. Students studying in Class 8,9 and 10 will come under junior category and those in Class 11 and 12 will come under the senior category. There will be seperate events for both the categories.
There is no registration fee for Aarohan. All the schools that wish to attend the fest can click on the below button to register for the event. On registering a link will be mailed to the respective schools using which, details about the attending students and faculty will be collected. Based on the provided information, kits for the students will be prepared which can be collected on the day of the fest.

ROUND 1: POINT IT
A point will be marked on the walls of the room and the team must concentrate the laser light on
the given point from a distance by reflecting it through the mirrors provided. The team which
uses more number of mirrors and completes the task in least time will qualify for the next
round.
ROUND 2: IDEATHON
The group has to give a technical presentation on project idea that can be implemented based on
the topic given to them. Evaluation will be based on the competency of the project.

ROUND 1: PICTIONARY
ROUND 2: DIODE
The qualified teams have to spot the errors in an electronic circuit and rectify them.
The teams which complete this task in the shortest time qualify to the final round.
ROUND 3: TRIODE
The participants will be given an incomplete circuit. The teams have to identify
the missing components that complete the circuit and build it on a breadboard.
The team which builds the complete circuit in the least time wins.

Round 1:
A time-based event for three in a group with individual participation in aggregate rounds.
SUB ROUND 1: TANGRAM
The participant has to arrange the given geometrical shapes such that it resembles the picture
provided to him/her.
SUB ROUND 2: CONSTELLATION WITH COINS.
The participant will be given an image of a constellation, he/she must recreate it using the
coins provided.
SUB ROUND 3: PICTOGRAMME
The participant has to guess the word/phrase from the images shown.
ROUND 2: RATESPILE
Three boxes containing a pool of questions will be numbered based on their difficulty level
related to the topics viz. General Science, Mathematics, Astrophysics and Chemistry, and General
knowledge. Each team has to answer a set of 10 questions picked up by them from these boxes.

ROUND 1:TIC-TAC-LOGIC
A test round with a series displayed on the computer. It consists of questions on patterns,
problem solving and reasoning. The teams which complete the questionnaire with the right answers
in the least time, qualify to the next round.
ROUND 2: MIND BLOCK
The qualified teams have to solve questions on aptitude and brain-twisters involving basic
maths. The team which gets the right answers in a short span wins the event.

ROUND 1: JUST DO IT
A test round with a series of questions based on basic math such as algebra, trigonometry and
fun maths. The teams which solve the given questions the fastest qualify to the next

ROUND 2: DERIVE IT
A round of maths questions for which the answers in turn provides a formula/figure/expression.
The teams which solve the given questions in the least time will qualify to the final
round.
ROUND 3: PICK THE PACE
Part 1:
One member will participate in the JAM session (Just a minute) based on maths.
Part 2:
Remaining two members will participate in Maths taboo.

ROUND 1: NETWORKING QUIZ
The participant’s knowledge will be tested through simple questions related to computer
networks. Highest scoring teams will qualify to the next round.
ROUND 2:ROBO SOCCER
The teams will play soccer using the bots provided to them. The teams with the maximum number of
goals within the given time qualify for the final round.
ROUND 3: ESCAPE ROOM
The teams must solve fiddling puzzles of various levels in order to escape from the room. The
team which accomplishes the task in the least time wins the event.

ROUND 1: SKY MOUNT
A round based on teamwork which require skill and coordination. The team has to build a tower by
using the materials provided, without moving the blocks by their hands.
ROUND 2: SCI-ZONE
1)Where is gravity? - First team member will be provided with a nail, thread, a magnet and a box
open on one side. She/he has to make the nail levitate in air using thread and the magnet. The
nail should not hang from the top of the box.
2) Fan ball - The second and third team member will be provided with ping pong balls and a table
fan which is fixed with cups on its circumference. They must put the balls in the cups when the
fan is oscillating.
3) Buoyancy - Fourth team member will be provided with a bottle of water, pen cap and clay.
She/he must make the pen cap float to a defined level in the water bottle.
ROUND 3: TYK (Test Your Knowledge)
This round tests the knowledge and the spontaneity of the team. The team will select an id and
they should search for the password from the heap of papers. After collecting both id and
password, questions will be asked based on them. The team which answers maximum no. of question
in the stipulated time wins the event.

● The teams which qualify in both round 1 and round 2 will be allowed to participate in round
3.
● In round 3, points will be given based on the time taken for searching the password and the
answers they give.

STALL 1: TABOO
One of the team members must explain the given word to his/her teammates without using the
prohibited words.
STALL 2: LOGO QUIZ
In this round, the team will have to recognize the given logo of a company. Correct answers will
be awarded points. A spinning wheel will be used to give some extra points or benefits in the
game.
STALL 3: CROSSWORD PUZZLE
A crossword puzzle in which a large-scale crossword block will be made on the floor. The teams
are given hints about a few companies, CEOs and information related to entrepreneurship and are
asked to fill the puzzle accordingly. If there is a tie among two teams, then the time taken
will come into consideration. The team which gets the maximum number of answers in the given
time frame is the winner of this round.
POINTERS:

All the 3 events in stalls will be taking place simultaneously, and the order of the stalls will
differ for each of the teams. To complete the entire event, the teams must finish all 3 stalls
and the points will be totalled.

Description
Students will have to present their projects and working models which can solve an existing
problem in the society. Participants need to explain their project to the judges. The project
will be judged based on the uniqueness of the idea, way of presentation, level of technology
used and social importance of the project.

ROUND 1: Lazer Marathon
The teams have to crack the path of a maze filled with laser beams. The participants have to
cross the obstacles through the laser maze by answering the questions.
The teams which complete the task in a short span will qualify for the final round.
ROUND 2: ROBOT 3.0
The event is based on the snake and ladder theme where the teams are supposed to move their bot
based on the answer (1 to 6) they get for the question asked.

ROUND 1: BIG-PEN
The teams will be provided with a chart, a pen and ropes. The participants have to coordinate
among the team members and write the word provided by moving the ropes which are tied to the pen
from one end. The teams that take a short span of time will qualify to the next round.
ROUND 2: SKY LAUNCHER
The teams will be provided with a drone, plaster and straws. The team has to build a model using
straws and carry the model with the help of the drone to the specified area.

ROUND 1: TECH BATTLE
Battle consists of three steps:
Step 1: A round based on aim and luck of the team. The participants have to choose a task by
playing the DART game.
Step 2: Charts consisting of circuits will be displayed on the wall. The team has to make a
perfect circuit diagram by rearranging these charts.
Step 3: The team will get three chances to shoot a ball into the basket. Depending on their
score, they have to solve a set of questions based on electronics and basic science.
ROUND 2: FIX THE GLIMPSE
An incomplete circuit diagram will be given to the participants where they have to build the
complete circuit on a breadboard and explain the function of the circuit.

ROUND 1: INVENTOPRENEUR
Each member of the team has to play the role of a CEO, finance manager, founder and marketing
head.
The teams have to come up with a design of a new product using the list of materials provided to
them. The team has to describe their design.
The teams with the most innovative and efficient design will qualify to the next round.
ROUND 2: SHARK TANK
In this round, two teams with similar design in a particular domain will compete against each
other and they (Founder and Finance Manager) have to convince the investors to invest in their
product and negotiate with them smartly.
ROUND 3: CRISIS MANAGEMENT
This round consists of a press conference in which two members representing their team (CEO and
marketing head) will be questioned on crisis management.

ROUND 1: RACE FOR GLORY
The team will use a Bluetooth-controlled robot to race through the path filled with obstacles by
answering the questions at the check points.

ROUND 2: CIRCUITRIX
The teams will be given a puzzle block with wires, resistors and LEDs and they have to build a
circuit in which the bulb glows. The teams which complete the circuit in the least time will
qualify to the final round.
ROUND 3: BRIDGE THE GAP
The teams have to build a stable bridge between two tables which can sustain the maximum amount
of weight using the given materials.

The team will be given a series of questions based on logical thinking, number systems, cryptography, and cyber security. Question will have to be answered correct in order to gain access to the next question.

A crime scene will be provided to the participants where they should find the clues to solve the mystery. The clues will be based on mathematics, physics, chemistry etc. The team which solves the mystery first will be the winner of the event.
